A ledger that stays on your phone

The most important design decision in Ví Ơi is invisible on screen. The book lives on your device, and nothing enters it until you say so.

Ví Ơi is ODERYN’s personal ledger for Android: a place to log what comes in and goes out, watch a monthly plan and look back at what you spent. It starts without asking you to create anything.

No account, no sync

Transactions, categories, your budget, payday, language and reminder times are stored locally, in the app’s private storage on your device. The current version does not require an account and does not sync ledger data to ODERYN servers. ODERYN cannot see your book.

A ledger is intimate. Keeping it on the device, with no account, is the simplest way to keep it private.

Hints you confirm

Many people already receive an alert from their bank or e-wallet for every payment. If you turn on hints from notifications and grant the matching Android permission, Ví Ơi can read new alerts from the financial apps you select and recognise the amount and whether money came in or went out.

Android’s notification access is broader than the list you pick, so the app filters by package and ignores every other source. Processing happens on the device. The raw alert text is not stored and is not sent to ODERYN servers, and a suggested entry is written to the book only after you confirm it. The Google Play version of Ví Ơi does not read SMS.

What Ví Ơi does not ask for

Ví Ơi does not ask for bank passwords, OTPs, full card numbers or bank logins, and it does not use location, contacts, photos or the microphone. It is not a bank, an e-wallet or a payment service, and it does not show a real bank-account balance.

Your data, in your hands

You can export transactions to a CSV file and import them again. The file sits outside the app’s private storage and is not encrypted by Ví Ơi, so choose carefully where you keep it and who you share it with. Local data stays on the device until you delete an entry, delete all data in Ví Ơi or uninstall the app.
